Life Drawing
This week I have mostly been drawing from life... I went to my first life class for a very long time, on tuesday, and thoroughly
enjoyed it. I have re discovered the challenge of drawing from a live model, and it was fantastic to be able to observe the
details of the body and see the parts we dont normally see.The model was a very tall and slim fashion model whose legs are
the longest I have seen, and whose neck is also the slimmest of necks, so delicate and refined. The poses were too short for
my liking at ten minutes per pose, so I felt rushed to finish and complete the figure in time, but apart from that, I would
say it was like remembering a long forgotten joy from a long discarded pastime which used to mean so much, but whose importance
has been lost to me. I will be doing these classes every week from now on, so I expect to be making a new page for finished
life drawings. I also drew a portrait of Alana Harken, last week and the result was quite encouraging, I enjoy portrait
work too, though strangely enough, I am really only interested in drawing ladies at the moment.

Friday 10 October 2008.
I met a great model this week, a naughty young thing called Poison Pixie. Feel it could be a classic tale of artist and
model. She was a joy to draw and held her poses well.
I think I had better not say any more...

Here are some new snaps of my latest piece.
It just turned into this over the course of two days.
I have worked on it further and so the work you see here no longer exists, really. Its been painted over and now its finished.
I will be posting new photos of the finished piece very soon.
If only...I had stopped sooner and preserved the spontaneity of what you see here, but, alas, in an attempt to make the
sea shine just like it does in real life and to give more distance to the overall panorama of sea, I have adjusted and re
painted it all. I like a lot of what is new but if someone had really bought it at day three, I would have been quite happy
to stop and let it go into the world like that...but the shine on the sea is quite good and overall it was worth the extra
work.
